Boss Analysis # 72
The seventy-second episode of Boss Analysis, and a sequel to episodes 10 and 34.
When you reach the very end of a game and have to defeat the final boss to order to earn the right to finish the adventure, it can be a very scary and tense time. But not all final bosses are much of a threat. In fact, some of them are utterly pathetic, and there's no way they could possibly challenge you if you've already overcome every other obstacle in the game.
For this Boss Analysis, I cover some of my favourite pathetic final bosses in descending order of "difficulty".

The Most Powerful Characters In Gaming Ever # 45

This series is all about video game characters who have left me in awe at their power, whether it's the ability to survive a boulder falling on their head, colossal earth-shattering strength, sheer dominance over the game they're in, etc. No matter the genre, my search for the most powerful characters in gaming ever is never far from my mind, even when I'm playing visual novels that rarely, if ...

Creepy Bad Endings # 112

Bad endings. I don't know about anyone else, but they terrify me. Just when the hero(es) thought everything was finally right, just when it looked like peace had finally returned to the world, something happens that, at best, creates a bittersweet victory and, at worst, spoils everything and the enemies win, despite everything that happened throughout your adventure. Bad endings don't give you ...

WARNING: This video may cause seizures. Many times, I hear people say that graphics don't matter and that only gameplay counts towards making a game great. I disagree with this. There are some games out there with such graphical problems, it can seriously spoil the experience. Today, I'm taking a look at the games that will test the faith of even the most devout "gameplay whores". Wow, never th...
The Worst Mario Level Of All Time? - Worst Levels Ever # 47

Unfortunately, although there are lots of fantastic levels and stages in video games, there are also a fair few awful ones. Mario has been the king of platformers for as long as we can all remember, deciding upon the absolute worst (official) Mario level from the large collection of 2D Mario platformers is a very difficult task when the quality is as consistently high as it is. Opinions may var...

The seventieth-first episode of Boss Analysis. In a previous episode, I covered a number of bosses I consider scary for various reasons, titled "Bosses I Fear". I've decided this would make for a fine sub-series in a similar vein to Bosses I Hate... Today's featured boss comes from the never-ending waterfall of misery, Alundra on the original Sony Playstation... Bosses are naturally scary and i...

More of my video game pet peeves. They don't exactly spoil my overall enjoyment of the games they appear in, but man... to deny they get on my last nerve would make me a liar. There's no such thing as a perfect video game. It doesn't matter how critically acclaimed one might be, you're bound to find fault with it somewhere. Some of the problems games face can outright ruin them, and they rightl...

The Fastest Characters In Gaming Ever 5
3:07 Giant Metal Bowser takes 100% but lives. On closer inspection, Bowser might have lived the first bite because of the "edge tipping" state; at least, the brief transition into it. I went through frame-by-frame and found that he takes damage right before entering the "edge tipping" animation. This is as Bowser is going from "running" to "edge tipping". 3:37 Giant Metal Bowser also takes 100%, but gets insta-killed this time. Standing on the platform, nothing out-of-the-ordinary. I'm no expert on programming, but perhaps this was a fringe-case bug where you are immune to the insta-kill while transitioning into that animation state; maybe it wasn't given the parameters for vulnerability to insta-kill. Only talking about the transitional state here. I'd imagine it was not caught during testing since it seems very specific to be tipping at the ledge as you're getting annihilated by the chimera. I know of the edge-cancel bug in SSB64, where you can cancel taunts with the edge tipping animation (even for a brief moment), so maybe it could be related.
Whelp they changed the dialogue :/
20:46 hehe, they accidentally put him smiling here
Yeah stab that tumor 😂
This game is one of the best and well balanced in the series and then there's this bullshit
There's also an angel game over in Kid Icarus:Of Myths and Monsters as well as SEGA Sonic the Hedgehog whenever you die.

Out of curiosity, are you planning on doing the inverse (The Most Difficult Final Bosses) in a similar fashion? It was a very enjoyable video the first time around.
I can't seem to think of many first bosses that meet the requirements, but there's probably some I'm forgetting about.
I was talking about brutal FINAL bosses such as in Boss Analysis #19. Sorry for the mix-up. For instance, some of my own personal inclusions would be: -Dark Link from Zelda II (Though this was already mentioned in a previous video) -Sonic Mania's Super Sonic Boss (Seriously, you get way too little rings!) -Evice and Greevil from Pokemon Colosseum and XD respectively (Haven't fought these two personally, and I honestly don't want to...) -Ashnard from FE Path of Radiance (You have YET to talk about this dude, and I really want you to!)
Oops, sorry, I read final as first, for some reason. I must be going blind. Yeah, there are plenty of brutal final bosses to cover, I'll have to think about the ones that really got under my skin. Also, I did cover Ashnard in Boss Analysis # 67, which was about the bosses I fear.
Thanks for letting me know about Ashnard. Was not disappointed!
These final bosses make you go “Wait that was it?” Also, hearing Ada Wong say “Game Over” in Leon’s voice is incredibly weird and funny. I guess you weren’t kidding when you said this save file had Ada Wong modded over Leon.
15:02 OH, *NOW* YOU SPEAK UP, LUIGI. AFTER MARIO SAID “YES” ON HIS *LAST CHANCE.*

Ahhh, I was just thinking about your channel, but I couldn't remember the name or what it was about, but now it's back in my feed again!
1:14 You're not wrong: every single time I've seen someone taking the key, Havelock immediately turned hostile. I thought for so long it was intentional, as if Havelock tried to catch you off-guard while taking the key, but maybe it was a bug after all.
That was easy.
By the way I'd love to see you cover another most powerful characters in gaming ever video, except it's catdog in nickelodeon all star brawl
Super Paper Mario is honestly my favorite of the paper mario games, so underrated for sure.
Oh heck yeah I love Ren and Stimpy, I got many of the episodes memorized, and it's also my favorite cartoon of all time and it influenced animation too.
1:25 Hear me out: Legend of Zelda with Pokémon-style movement
The 2nd case in Apollo Justice is not just boring but also stupid. How did a doctor who owns a surgical clinic did not notice that the dead body he was trying to hide was not dead? I felt like it was one of the worst cases in the series if not the worst.
I liked the split, bite-sized videos (long enough to not be yt shorts with which I have issues, yes short enough not to erode my lack of attention span) but the proper analyses can never be replaced!
Is there one where bill sacrifices himself to save the base, referencing even more of independence day?
The only weak final boss that comes to mind for me is the one from an obscure DS port of De Blob 2 lol. (But ig it's also a weak first boss at the same time)
Needs more Life Virus/Mithos' second form/Dad of Boi: Ragnarok Odin.
Uh, the only source I recognize out of those three is the first MMBN, although you're probably talking about how you have Hub.BAT at your disposal for that instead of how you can skip the fight altogether with a glitch I've nicknamed the Finger Flick. What are the other two from?
@@RaceBandit Tales of Symphonia for Mithos and God of War: Ragnarok for Odin.
When i think of Pathetic final bosses, one frequently comes to mind: Dr Neo Cortex from Crash bandicoot 2. The sequel might be a serious improvement over the first in every possible way, and that includes most bosses...but somehow, they really dropped the ball with the rematch against the big bad himself. Instead of a climatic encounter in the same vain as the previous fight against him, We're suddenly thrown into the jetpack that had only been used twice before this. And the controls that will take a while getting used to is the closest to a challenge about the fight. All you do is chase after Cortex and spin him three times before he gets to the end. Howerer, that's the only way to die in this fight. He never attacks you himself, and the asteroids & mines scattered across the path only stun the player for a short while. In short, the final boss is a chase sequence which is heavily rigged on the player's favor. Which, considering the otherwise improved quality of bosses before Cortex, really drops the ball. Thank good the third game picks up the slack and gives us a infinitely superior final fight.
The only boss fights I can think of that are more pathetic than these are the final bosses that are merely Quicktime Events. Sauron in Shadow of Mordor comes to mind, as does Rais from Dying Light.
I think the final boss is more Daud than anyone. He’s the one who mirrors the players drive to just go kill everyone, and the main character’s emotions and power. In gameplay he’s a less powerful version of us, with his strongest power being time bend. Although for beginners sword fighting him is impossible on higher difficulties, gunning him down as a beginner is always easy but that requires working at the game and finding money to get the upgrades.
Never thought after all these years of watching you I'd see Havelock
why are your videos so good mang
Try doing a boss analysis on Melfice from Grandia 2 Melfice is by far the hardest boss in the game for being...not the final boss.
Although this is mostly a super cut version of the shorter videos, (I view this as how Boss Analysis is meant to be intended, by the way) I've changed some dialogue and added additonal parts that weren't in the original versions. (Earthworm Jim, Kirby and Parodius have the additional parts, Fire Emblem and Earthworm Jim have some minor dialogue tweaks)
Glad you showed off the insta kill for Earthworm Jim. Thanks for the entertaining content!
Serene face, concealed eyes, in fearsome bite unlife lies. A victory lost, defeat it is when rewarded with fatal kiss.
Here's a somewhat unusual idea for a video: Bosses or enemies that defeat the player in weird, unorthodox, or humiliating ways. The final boss of Shadow of the Erdtree can defeat you by literally brainwashing you (it even says "Heart Stolen" instead of "You Died"). Funnily enough, it's just treated as a normal death - no special cutscene or bad ending - and you even get a unique emote if you lose the fight this way.
Can't wait for a Boss Analysis on The Simpsons for the Arcade
31:20 From what Ive seen, if you grab the key when he says, “Do you think I’d fight you Corvo? Sorry to disappoint,” he doesn’t attack. But if you grab the key after he says that, he attacks. It might be a bug.
Say what you will about the lack of difficulty of these bosses, but at least the music is good.
Say what you will about the lack of difficulty of these bosses, but at least the music is good.
37:01 "Corvo's going to kill you!" "Ha, possibly, but-" "No, seriously, he's right behind yo- oh, and there he goes."
Say what you will about the lack of difficulty of these bosses, but at least the music is good.
now that the individual videos and the full set are both out, ill put my opinion down for anyone who wants to hear it. i prefer longer videos, so watching the full set was a more enjoyable experience for me. that said, i can see the individual uploads finding success given lots of people like shorter videos
25:02 I have admittedly died to Dark Nebula a few times
Please do a Boss Analysis with Bug from Parodius: Octopus Saves the Earth, Doom from Salamander 2, and the final bosses from the two Game Boy Gradius games. Gradius fans may take them on expecting the typical zero-effort boss...then get shocked when these four final bosses turn out to actually be difficult.
"the only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing" *Some players who don't focus on attack patterns end up dying by the same boss over and over again*
Period/Marduk from Shin Megami Tensei Dx2. Seeing as he's the leader of a Chaos faction, the final boss of Season 2 *and* a high ranking god, you'd expect him to be a threat worthy of being a final boss. Unfortunately, the game didn't actually provide a unique encounter, with phase 1 just being represented by Fenrir and phase 2 by Horcos. These are both demons you've faced before with no fanfare and have little to no connection to his source matetial. The game even uses the normal boss theme. For comparison, the final boss of season 1 was represented by Lucifer in his Hellel form, the Law faction in season 2 has some of the most interesting story fights in the game and siding with his own faction has you fight a corrupted Metatron. Another example is phase 2 of the final boss of Hollow World. While phase 1 is a fun challenge, the next battle is just a victory lap as they came back wrong and all of their "attacks" are wallowing in self pity.
I'm not sure mobile games are eligible for Boss Analysis.
@@RaceBandit I can imagine, I mostly just remembered for a brand new reason why Period's fight is underwhelming- Marduk is part of Vengeance's lore
I don't remember if those bosses were listed before or not, but there is surprisingly more final bosses that are easier or just... there. Spoilers are in order - Evelyn from RE7 is just glorified cutscene (which works for finale but doesn't for boss itself) - Didact from Halo 4 which is the same as up there, just with pressing one button instead - Time Eater from Sonic Generations for consoles is a joke. Same with Egg Robot from Lost World. - We all know of Titan Powered Joker from Arkham Asylum. - Omega from Zero 3 is a joke. Being hyped up and at the end being a joke in all three phases. Phase 2 is propably hardest of them but still not that big of a deal. - Talking about Mega Man. there is also CRO-RQ from Mega Man DOS, or Wily Machine No. I from Dr. Wily's Revenge. - Does GTA final bosses count? Because Sonny from VC and Uncle from Chinatown Wars and have to be the bottom of them. Propably there are more easiest final bosses but that's all I remember. If they some were shown before, my bad.
1:35 I feel that Springboards were massively improved from Super Mario World onwards. Especially when you could carry them.
Boss Analysis 72: Complete?
Do one on Most out of nowhere final bosses like Necron
He typically doesn’t take requests.
